The McColl Park Committee

The McColl Park Committee includes Charlotteans who have worked Hugh McColl on various civic projects and issues. The Committee is leading the effort to transform the city-owned park into a celebrated public space that welcomes all. They are raising funds from the private sector for park design and development. Committee members include:

Michael Smith, President and CEO of Charlotte Center City Partners

The late Rolfe Neill, former Publisher of The Charlotte Observer was also a founding member of the committee.

Charlotte Center City Partners

Charlotte Center City Partners is managing the design- and construction-related activities for the McColl Park project and facilitates engagement with the community, including residents, adjacent landowners, business leaders, historic and other interest groups, donors, and other stakeholders. The McColl Park Design Team

In partnership with Bolton & Menk (ColeJenest & Stone), Hood Design Studio, led by renowned designer Charlotte native Walter Hood, will lead the visioning and design process for the future McColl Park. Bolton & Menk will serve as the landscape architect and civil engineer of record.

Hood Design Studio

Hood Design Studio (HDS) is a cultural practice based in Oakland, California since 1993. They believe in the power of storytelling to express people and place through public art, landscape architecture and master planning. HDS seeks to express ecological and cultural stories, contemporary and historic, as well as those that remain unseen or unrecognized.
